I really enjoy looking at it, however agree that it is not a strong message for Adidas. The confetti is an expression of the love and celebration for basketball and appreciation to adidas. Off to check out more.
The trees on the right side of the picture I at first glance thought was reflections in a glass building. I think a cool part of the image is that you need to take a closer look to see what's 'going on'. The Adidas logo I think is quite visible which I guess is important because I believe that's what people in the ad buisiness are always obsessing about.
If I try to look at it as an 'advertiser' (is that a part of the contest? Sorry I haven't checked), I'd say that the sky and tree branches aren't 'happy' enough, as I always want clear blue jolly Disney skies. And I'm a tiny bit confused about what the shape is about that's enclosing the Adidas logo? But I do love the vibe of 'exploding confetti' this image gives away.
I'm no critiques genius, hope these words helped in some way. Now I'm off to have a look at your other contest contribution...
There are a lot of colors, makes it seem kinda busy. My philosophy with stuff like this is usually 'Keep it simple stupid'
I'm having a hard time with the exact message of the piece too, so try and use sutler strokes to show where you want the audience to be looking. you have the hoop far to the right but also have some distracting confetti looking marks on the left. The Adidas logo is just kinda there and not really drawing any attention.
Seeing as this is very obviously done in photoshop or a similar program, I would strongly suggest you use an actual painting for your entry. Try and use the style you have going on in gallery, I think you could turn out something really cool, just don't think to hard about it.
Ok thanks for the critique, I do plan on doing one with paint and canvas real soon. Hopefully you like it better. This hoop one I like because of the colors (pink is my favorite) and the fact that it is my daughter's hoop (she is a total jock and ADIDAS fan).
