This art piece speaks visually in many ways. I used complimentary colors (purples and yellows) which the eye quickly notices. There is an uneven amount of lights and darks another key element in capturing the attention of the viewer. The way the different shapes are positioned throughout the work also portrays a visual message.
The work is slightly spooky but in a lighthearted way. Initially it was a winter photo that I took last winter. It was cold and snowy as it always is in Maine. I left some of the snowy effect but also added warmth. Snow doesn't lend itself to much warmth, but I like lighter colors shining through. Then again one could also think of it as a night scene with the darks and circular yellow shapes. It's whatever you make of it. This piece lends itself to a variety of ideas and speaks in more ways than one.
Their are circular forms in this work as well as a few faces. Faces find their way into my work. Some are obvious while others are not. The face is a point of visual interest. It is what a person is first attracted to. Faces add emotion and feeling to paintings, drawings and digital works.
This piece speaks visually as it is rendered with a solid design and the claw is well represented as it appears twice in the painting. One will stop and view this work of art many times and it will not be forgotten.
Finally it speaks visually as it was exciting to make and I feel that my excitement in creating this is seen throughout the piece.
